Job summary

The Cumberland is seeking a Street Lighting Operative to maintain over 35,000 streetlights and illuminated signs across Cumberland. You will perform installation, maintenance and repair tasks to keep streets safe and well-lit for residents, including lamp cleaning/replacement, column and cabling work, basic electrical testing and MEWP operation.

The role requires working outdoors in all weather, travel across Cumbria, and occasional out-of-hours duties including winter service.

Qualifications

• Solid understanding of safe working practices.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather and travel across Cumbria.
• Comfortable using tools and plant and working independently.

Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, maintenance and repair of street lighting.
• Clean and replace lamps; install columns and cabling; basic electrical testing; operate MEWPs.
• Support general highway maintenance and out-of-hours duties including winter service.
