Job summary

Equans is seeking a Street Lighting Electrician to maintain, install and repair street lighting across locations in the North East. You will ensure safety, efficiency and reliability while working on call to support the R&C street lighting contract.

The role requires street lighting experience, NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition BS 7671, and a clean UK driving license. You will operate MEWPs and document all activities, with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified electrician with a valid NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation.
• 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations ( BS 7671 ).
• Experience in street lighting or similar public infrastructure work.
• City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent testing and inspection qualification.
• Strong knowledge of UK electrical standards for public infrastructure.
• Full, clean UK driving license; Category C1 preferred.
• Ability to work independently and on call for rota shifts.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair street lighting and associated equipment.
• Diagnose electrical faults and perform timely repairs to minimise outages.
• Schedule inspections and tests to BS7671 standards.
• Operate MEWPs to access lighting equipment at height.
• Respond to emergency call-outs; participate in night rosters.
• Document work using job sheets and electronic records.
