Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking a Street Cleansing Driver Supervisor to lead frontline cleansing teams, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality city services. The role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and proactive problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.

Reporting to the Operations Management Team, you will coordinate daily activities, supervise staff, and work with stakeholders to maintain the city’s cleanliness and safety standards.

Qualifications

• A valid driving licence.
• Strong leadership and people management skills.

• Experience with health and safety procedures and standards.
• Good IT skills with ability to complete reports.
• Commitment to customer service and community engagement.
• Experience in street cleansing or environmental services would be advantageous; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support frontline street cleansing teams to deliver high quality services.
• Monitor performance against operational targets and KPIs.
• Conduct daily team briefings and provide clear direction to staff.
• Address performance, attendance, and operational issues professionally and fairly.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and company procedures.
• Carry out street inspections and safety checks to maintain a safe working environment.
• Complete operational reports, records, and documentation accurately and on time.
• Work closely with managers to identify service improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Build strong working relationships with residents, customers, and community groups.
• Attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required.
• Support the planning and delivery of city events and other operational activities.
• Assist with staff training, coaching, and development initiatives.
