A leading faith-based network is seeking a Streaming and Systems Engineer to handle engineering, design, and maintenance tasks in the Broadcast Network Operations Center. The ideal candidate will manage streaming systems and ensure the integrity of IP networks. Applicants should have a degree in a relevant field and a strong background in IP networking, Linux, and server management. This position may require extended hours and occasional weekend work.

Job Description

Daystar Christian Television Network is looking for an experienced Streaming and Systems Engineer to work at our headquarters in Bedford, Texas. Must be a Christian dedicated to the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Streaming and Systems Engineer will serve Daystar Television Network through engineering, design, and maintenance tasks related to systems in the Broadcast Network Operations Center (NOC).

  • SSE will oversee and maintain Web-streaming systems and internal IP network connectivity for related production systems.
  • Extensive IP networking skills and back-end server support across multiple OS deployments are required.
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter and team player who thrives on keeping systems operational and is eager to learn. Job responsibilities include:
  • Full responsibility for all streaming systems and support infrastructure.
  • Managing Harmonic XOS encoders, ensuring signal integrity and encoding quality, including SMPTE 2110 standards.
  • Supporting SDI infrastructure components, encoders, and related devices.
  • Providing engineering support to the Web Master (Business IT Department).
  • Developing technical strategies to improve reach and effectiveness.
  • Researching and developing new streaming technologies and best practices.
  • Collaborating with the Senior IP Network Engineer and Broadcast & Production teams to optimize streaming environments.
  • Educating Engineering and Business IT staff on broadcast/streaming convergence.
  • Assisting with the development of SOW and RFP for network segregation projects.
  • Supporting Sr. Network Operations Engineer (SNOE) with network operations, installations, and maintenance.
  • Systems include A/V routers, encoders, ingest and playout servers, QC equipment, signal processing, control systems, traffic, remote monitoring, multi-viewers, IP network fabric, closed captioning, media storage, and archiving systems.
  • Assisting with SIAR architecture for streaming to towers.
  • Supporting NOC, RF, and Engineering Services teams in developing disaster recovery strategies.
  • Supporting Harmonic XOS SRT encoders used in cloud playout systems, Aveco automation, OSI traffic software backend, hardware, and signal path maintenance.
  • Supporting TeleStream Vantage Lightspeed servers and NOC/Production IP networking.
  • Documenting operational procedures and performing other assigned responsibilities.

Knowledge Base:

  • Operational knowledge of listed systems.
  • Strong computer/server skills: Linux, Windows Server, ZFS, 1FS, Qumulo.
  • Layer 3 IP networking certifications or equivalent experience.
  • VMware experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Office 365 applications.
  • Experience with Visio, AutoCAD, or similar for documentation.
  • College degree in Technical, Broadcast, or IP Network Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Willingness to continue technical education.
  • Familiarity with SMPTE 2110-(n) protocols.
