About the role

Are you ready to help shape the future of one of the UK’s leading mutual insurance and financial services companies? We are looking for an experienced Strategy Manager to guide and support our long-term strategic direction. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead strategic projects, support the development of forward-thinking plans, and consider strategic options with a particular focus on financial services (investments, pensions & life insurance).

You’ll be responsible for challenging and guiding critical programmes to ensure they align with our long-term goals, using your strategic planning expertise to develop, implement, and monitor planning processes that connect our long-term vision with medium-term and annual business objectives. Your insights will shape and inform NFU Mutual’s strategy, and you’ll collaborate with the Executive, Senior Management, and the Board to drive NFU Mutual’s long-term success.

A confident communicator and skilled relationship builder, you’ll be absorbing wide-ranging and complex information and data, simplifying it, and presenting insights to inform high-level decision-making. Your strategic decisions will then be delivered through NFU Mutual operational teams.

This role is known internally as a Senior Strategy Consultant.

About you

You’ll have a strong background in strategic planning and development within Financial Services in the UK (Investments, Pensions & Life insurance). You’ll be a visionary thinker with the drive to shape strategy at a high level, alongside the following skills:

  • Strategic & Market Expertise: Deep understanding of relevant industry trends, market dynamics, and strategic planning.
  • Analytical Insight & Visualisation: Ability to interpret complex data, visualise insights effectively, and support strategic decision-making with financial reporting knowledge.
  • Critical Thinking & Problem Solving: Skilled at analysing challenges, thinking critically, and delivering innovative solutions.
  • Influence & Communication: Exceptional communicator, with storytelling ability to simplify and present ideas at the Executive Committee level.
  • Collaboration & Resilience: Strong relationship-building skills, a respected professional reputation, and resilience to thrive in dynamic, high-stakes settings.
  • At NFU Mutual, we support an inclusive workplace and value all the differences that make us unique. We celebrate the creativity and innovation that comes from diverse perspectives and experiences and share a common vision of doing the right thing for our customers and employees.

We recognize that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. We encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.

We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
