Job description

MTM

MTM is part strategy consultancy, part market research agency, focused on media, entertainment and technology. Our clients range from digital giants such as Google, Amazon and Facebook to studios, broadcasters and sports businesses including Disney, Sky and the Premier League, and we work on international projects across the US, EMEA, APAC and LATAM.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Strategy Manager with a genuine passion for technology to join MTM’s strategy team and lead delivery on some of our most important technology work. You’ll sit at the heart of our developer and tech insights practice, running research and strategy projects for some of the world’s biggest tech brands, including work at the cutting edge of AI adoption across software and SaaS.

Reporting to the Director who leads our developer insights work, you will lead delivery across our technology research programmes and be a trusted day-to-day partner to senior client stakeholders. The role is mostly about excellent delivery, with a smaller share of proposals and account growth.

This role is ideal for an experienced consultant or researcher who wants to take ownership of a major client relationship and run with it. Our clients rely on us to shape their research agenda, not just answer briefs, so there is real room to make the role your own. We care more about the quality of your experience than the number of years, and we’re open to strong Senior Consultants who are ready to step up. The role is based in our Tottenham Court Road office in London, on a hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
  • Run projects end to end: scoping, writing proposals, costing, planning, delivery and final presentation.
  • Manage project resourcing, timelines and budgets, delivering high-quality work on time.
Research & Insight
  • Lead B2B research and interview programmes with senior technical audiences, from developers and CTOs to enterprise software buyers.
  • Design analytical frameworks and turn qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, commercially useful insight.
  • Design and deliver client briefings, reports, workshops and presentations.
Client Leadership
  • Act as the day-to-day lead for senior clients, building trusted, long-term relationships.
  • Bring new research ideas to clients and help grow the account over time.
  • Contribute to proposals and new business initiatives.
Leadership & Team
  • Lead project teams, and line manage and develop consultants and analysts.
  • Share your knowledge of developer tech and AI across the team, keeping our thinking at the cutting edge.
What We’re Looking For
  • Consulting experience, so you can contribute to client projects from day one. Most successful candidates will have around five or more years in consulting, research or insights.
  • Experience working on major technology accounts, with exposure to developers, software development or enterprise tech.
  • Strong B2B research skills, ideally including interviews with senior technical audiences.
  • A track record of managing projects end to end, including proposals, costings and junior team members.
  • Experience building strong relationships with senior stakeholders, with the adaptability to keep projects on track as priorities change.
  • A strong baseline of knowledge across media-tech, from hardware and cloud to software development and AI/ML. You know the difference between an API and an IDE and keep up to date with the space.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to make and support a clear argument.
  • A strong academic record, typically a 2:1 or above.
  • Ideally, direct experience researching developers or developer tools, and research on AI adoption in software, SaaS or tech.
  • Ideally, a computer science or technical degree, hands-on coding experience, or line management experience.
