Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.

The SCIB UK Strategy & Governance team works in close coordination with the Santander London Branch (SLB) Executive Committee and SLB Senior Management to implement the Global SCIB divisional goals and objectives whilst ensuring continued operation in alignment with the Group’s governance architecture and all relevant regulatory expectations.

As an Associate in the Strategy & Governance team of SLB, you'll play a key role in supporting the design and execution of strategic priorities of Santander’s Corporate & Investment Banking UK business. You'll work closely with wider UK Strategy & Governance team and global SCIB and Group stakeholders to ensure effective governance structures are designed and implemented across the branch to optimise management time, effort and effective decision making whilst ensuring that all resources are managed efficiently.

You'll report into the Head of Strategy & Governance and act as a key support to the Head of SCIB UK (Head of SLB) and the SLB Chief Administrative Officer in the day-to-day management of SLB.

The difference you’ll make:

  • Supporting the Head of Strategy & Governance and the wider team with relevant SCIB UK information, including sharing best practices, on critical strategic questions facing the business

  • Supporting the implementation of strategic transformation programmes within SCIB in collaboration with SCIB business and functional teams as well as with Santander Group functions and other global businesses and managing the day-to-day risks of these projects

  • Sourcing, analysing and presenting quality data to assist in understanding key opportunities, client segments and risks for the SCIB UK platform, to support regular and ad-hoc strategy reviews on key business issues

  • Managing the day-to-day internal governance processes in close coordination with stakeholders across the Group, monitoring of implementation and of the control and governance model in SLB

  • Supporting the identification, assessment, and management of potential governance and risk issues within SLB and design and implementation of remediation/enhancements

  • Developing and maintain an extensive collaborative network internally and externally to support the growth objectives of the business and for effective identification and management of current and future challenges

What you’ll bring:

These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:

  • Experience in Management Consulting or Financial Services

  • Relevant experience of working in the financial services industry or in an Advisory capacity on Regulatory and Governance related matters

  • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery and execution of projects

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, working in close collaboration with the support and business unit

It would also be nice for you to have:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject (Banking, Finance, Business, Management)

  • MBA, Masters in Finance or equivalent

  • Any additional languages especially Spanish

  • Analytical skills and a high proficiency in Microsoft Office

This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.
