Job description

We are looking for a Strategy & Development Manager for a 12 month maternity cover contract. We are looking for someone to shape and drive the development of the Authority’s Zero Waste Strategy 2040 and manage the Waste Strategy & Development Team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing the Strategy & Development Team to deliver our long term strategic aims.
  • Building and maintaining strategic relationships with stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, local authorities, contractors and other bodies.
  • Managing effective communication between the Strategy & Development Team and stakeholders to secure successful outcomes.
  • Providing a comprehensive programme of circular economy activity to support the Authority’s vision and zero waste strategy.
  • Leading on waste prevention, minimisation and reuse, strategic funding initiatives and research and development, and co-ordinating the Authority’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) Reporting.
  • Providing specialist advice on policy and strategy relating to sustainable resource and waste management to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring effective budget and financial management systems are in place to achieve the Authority’s aims and objectives.
  • Representing the Authority at national, regional and local level in its dealings with government bodies, local authorities, agencies, the local community, the private sector and other organisations.
  • Developing initiatives to deliver waste education through awareness, engagement and communications activities to support the Authority’s corporate aims and objectives.
