Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, approval, and maintenance of the Local Transport Plan, ensuring alignment with other regional strategies.
  • Define, gain approval for, and adopt the Key Route Network (KRN) for the client in collaboration with constituent authorities.
  • Facilitate the delivery of KRN policy objectives by securing additional resources, monitoring improvements, and reporting on economic growth and productivity impacts.
  • Develop and facilitate the Mayoral Rural Transport Group, managing budgets for transport projects.
  • Innovate transport solutions to enhance accessibility and connectivity in rural environments.
  • Commission and oversee the delivery of LTA transport schemes.
  • Act as the senior adviser to the MCCA Transport Board, ensuring effective reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Work closely with local authorities, businesses, communities, government departments, and stakeholders.
  • Lead the Enhanced Bus Partnership and coordinate public transport funding programmes.
  • Develop and implement a decarbonisation strategy for transport with stakeholders and transport operators.
  • Serve as the main contact for partners, stakeholders, and transport operators.
  • Advise and brief the Mayor and elected officials on strategy and programme performance.
  • Represent the client at various committees and forums professionally.
  • Undertake other duties relevant at this level.



Job Requirements:

  • Experience in transportation and transport-related roles.
  • Strong understanding of developing and maintaining transport plans and strategies.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and constituent authorities.
  • Experience in securing and managing funding for transport projects.
  • Knowledge of rural transport and the capacity to develop innovative solutions in such environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to advise and brief high-level officials on complex transport issues.
  • Understanding of decarbonisation strategies within the transport sector.
