Job summary

Cumberland Council is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a portfolio of transformation programmes within the PMO. The role focuses on Children's Services and broader corporate transformation, delivering outcomes aligned with the Council’s Corporate Plan.

You will manage projects through their lifecycle, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery, benefits realisation and rigorous governance. A fixed-term contract of 24 months supports strategic change across services.

Qualifications

• Experience of successfully managing projects, programmes or significant change initiatives.
• Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
• Experience of stakeholder engagement and working collaboratively across teams and organisations.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of project governance, reporting, risk management and performance monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and delivery of complex projects and transformation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain project plans, governance arrangements, risk registers and reporting frameworks.
• Monitor progress against milestones, budgets, benefits and outcomes.
• Support business case development, options appraisals and service reviews.
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder engagement activities and project boards.
• Build effective relationships with colleagues, partners and senior leaders across the organisation.
• Ensure projects are delivered to time, quality and budget whilst maintaining a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
• Support programme governance and reporting through the Council's PMO framework.
