Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to bolster the finance team for a large services business in the West Malling area. The role covers corporate tax, VAT and indirect tax compliance, tax provisions and forecasting, with an emphasis on governance and planning.

The successful candidate will be professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CTA or equivalent) with strong UK tax knowledge and IFRS/UK GAAP understanding.

Qualifications

• Professionally qualified accountant or tax specialist with demonstrable experience in corporate taxation and compliance.
• Strong technical expertise in UK tax legislation, regulations, and HMRC guidance.
• Solid knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP and their tax implications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation, review and submission of corporate tax returns and statutory filings, including R&D relief claims.
• Oversee VAT, PAYE and indirect tax compliance, and liaise with customs agents to ensure duties and import VAT are paid.
• Manage interim and year-end tax provisions and collaborate with external auditors on tax disclosures.
• Prepare and maintain corporate tax forecasts, budgets and financial models for business planning.
• Enhance tax governance with policies, controls, systems and processes to support statutory duties.
• Develop and implement tax planning initiatives to optimise tax efficiency while staying compliant.
• Provide expert tax advice across the business and engage external advisers when needed.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and advise on actions to mitigate risk.
