Overview of role

You will be responsible for managing procurement expenditure and product related services, including developing strategic relationships with existing, former, and future suppliers.

The role involves ensuring requirements are met on time and in accordance with quality standards, delivering a capable and cost-effective supply base, and providing leadership and direction to commodity management teams and other areas of supply chain management.

This position operates at a management level with high autonomy, managing, mentoring, and developing an effective global commodity team to deliver cost-effective solutions for cargo sites.

You will define and own the capability, strategy, and operational excellence of your assigned commodities, develop key sourcing activities, promote sustainable procurement, and enhance procurement team capabilities.

You will work closely with stakeholders to deliver best-in-class products and be a trusted advisor in creating the procurement of tomorrow.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure effective sourcing to improve quality, cost, service, and technology.
  • Identify new product development opportunities and seek automation to improve productivity.
  • Support the product roadmap as a key member of NPD/NPI teams.
  • Maintain market trend expertise and build business cases for new opportunities.
  • Leverage global commodity teams for assistance.
  • Proactively manage supply chain impacts and obsolescence issues.
  • Support multi-site procurement projects.
  • Manage KPIs to maintain quality and delivery standards.
  • Lead, motivate, and develop procurement team members.
  • Drive supply base rationalization and supplier development.
  • Ensure cost, quality, and timely supply aligned with business targets.
  • Negotiate contracts adhering to standards and mitigating risks.
  • Manage strategic supplier relationships and conduct regular reviews.
  • Oversee new supplier sourcing and selection, ensuring value-based relationships.
  • Support make-or-buy decisions and manage engineering change orders.
  • Operate within documented procurement systems compliant with ISO standards.
Qualifications
  • Creative problem-solver with experience in procurement and supply chain management, including quality, financial analysis, and contracts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or Supply Chain preferred; 8-10 years of sourcing experience in lieu of degree.
  • Experience in commodities purchasing, including IT, electrical/electronic control & automation, mechanical, and fabrication.
  • Operations experience in procurement/materials/inventory management is a plus.
  • Membership or qualification in MCIPS / APICS or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in cost reduction and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and experience with ERP/MRP software (e.g., Microsoft Navision, Dynamics, Agile PLM).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, supply market dynamics, and ISO quality methods.
