Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is representing a welcoming and ambitions primary school in Burnley for a School Business Manager. The role leads the school’s financial, HR, procurement and facilities functions to support strategic and day-to-day operations.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and Governors in a permanent, full-time post (Term Time + 4 weeks) with a Grade 7 salary and opportunities for development.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a School Business Manager or similar operational leadership role.
• Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage competing priorities.
• Flexible, solution-focused approach with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience of school management information systems such as SIMS (desirable).
• A recognised School Business Management or finance qualification would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the school's business functions and report to the Headteacher and Governors.
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting and monitoring.
• Manage HR administration and personnel matters.
• Lead procurement, contracts and supplier management.
• Ensure Health & Safety and statutory compliance.
• Oversee Premises and facilities management.
• Maintain robust administration systems and procedures.
• Support strategic planning and business development with the Headteacher.
