Job summary

Hackney Academy in Inner East London seeks an experienced School Business Manager to lead the non-pedagogical, financial, operational, and administrative functions of a high-performing academy. Reporting to the Headteacher and joining the SLT, you will oversee a multi-million pound budget and drive resource efficiency.

The role requires a Degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting or an SBM qualification, with substantial senior management experience within education.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior business, operational, or financial management within a secondary school or academy trust.
• Strong knowledge of education finance systems and procurement.
• Proven strategic decision-making and leadership capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic financial planning, multi-year budget forecasting, and monthly management accounts.
• Line manage Finance, HR, Administration, Premises and Catering teams.
• Oversee HR compliance, safer recruitment, SCR, and payroll processes.
• Prepare reports for Local Governing Body and drive lettings/grant opportunities.
