Job summary

Shoosmiths Solicitors is seeking a Risk & Ethics Advisor to join its established R&E team in Birmingham. The role collaborates with the Head of Risk and Head of Data Protection to embed professional practice and advise on a broad range of legal, regulatory and ethical issues affecting the firm.

The post offers exposure across risk and data protection, with opportunities to develop knowledge through varied compliance topics and firmwide projects.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience working in risk and compliance within a professional services firm.
• Knowledge of legislation affecting solicitors including SRA rules and data protection.
• Desirable: experience assisting with internal and external investigations, including responding to queries from regulators.

Responsibilities

• Handle wide range of queries relating to anti-financial crime, conflicts, regulatory matters, data protection, supplier questionnaires, claims and complaints.
• Assist with processing data protection rights requests, risk assessments and maintenance of relevant registers.
• Support change initiatives within R&E by assisting with process improvements and implementation of changes.
• Provide regulatory and compliance guidance to internal stakeholders with input from senior colleagues.
• Contribute to firmwide projects including onboarding tools and other systems.
• Assist in developing training materials and delivering training sessions across the firm.
• Participate in R&E projects to help manage and mitigate risk.
