Job summary

Magpie Recruitment is seeking an experienced Project Controller to join its UK operation, focusing on financial and commercial support for project managers and senior leaders. The role will monitor costs, analyse performance against budgets and forecasts, and provide clear financial information to guide business decisions.

As a key user of ERP and reporting platforms, you will assist with system usage, data quality and drive process improvements across Finance, IT and Operations.

Qualifications

• Several years’ experience in project controlling, financial controlling or comparable role.
• Experience in project-led, construction, engineering, energy or infrastructure environments is advantageous.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems and BI/reporting tools.
• Excellent Excel and systems capabilities.
• Clear, proactive communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Monitor financial performance of projects and business units.
• Review actual expenditure against budgets and identify variances.
• Investigate deviations and communicate findings to project managers.
• Prepare monthly project forecasts, performance reports and KPIs.
• Provide ad-hoc financial analysis to support decisions.
• Maintain accurate project and financial data in ERP.
• Deliver system training and support to colleagues.
• Contribute to ERP, BI and reporting improvements.
