Strategic Remediation and Control Office (SRCO) leads Transformation and Remediation at Deutsche Bank. SRCO is responsible for the oversight of programs which contribute to the uplift of the firm’s capabilities across multiple lines of defense working in partnership with global Businesses, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Audit ensures alignment of the portfolio of projects remains within groupwide strategic priorities and are successfully implemented to achieve the intended benefit and outcomes.

You will be responsible for conducting thorough reviews and critical assessments of the design, implementation, and ongoing effectiveness of the organisation's sanctions and embargos risk framework, in areas such as Name List Screening (NLS), transaction screening, filtering, list management, and related sanctions controls. You will offer expert advice, guidance to executive stakeholders and the sanctions function on matters of regulatory compliance, policy adequacy, and the management of complex investigations.

Your key responsibilities

  • Establishing and upholding rigorous standards for assurance and quality review in planning, execution, and assessment of regulatory initiatives

  • Execute against a global framework for enhanced review and questioning of remediation delivery and outcomes, including overseeing and participating in comprehensive assurance and testing activities to assess the effectiveness of controls

  • Leverage experience in data management and data quality controls to underpin the integrity and effectiveness of assurance and question activities related to screening and sanctions systems

  • Directly managing and mentoring a high-performing team

  • Identify/ escalate key risks and control weaknesses detected within the Sanctions lifecycle, advocating for necessary improvements and long-term remedial actions

  • Present findings/issues/recommendations arising from assurance reviews to senior leadership and the Board

Your skills and experience

  • Strong financial crime, sanctions risk and control mindset

  • Prior experience working with Regulators, such as Federal Reserve and experience in executive messaging, reporting and communications related to large scale (cross divisional/multiple geographies) regulatory programs

  • Educated to Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification/work experience preferably with a focus on economics, business

  • Ideally have completed a recognised relevant post-graduate qualification (such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Member, Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA), Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS))

  • Extensive experience in the financial services industry, within Third Line Internal Audit or Second Line Risk or Compliance Testing/Assurance with an emphasis on Sanctions and/or data governance/assurance

  • Significant experience in risk management
