Job summary

Sonoco seeks a Regulatory Affairs Manager to lead regulatory compliance for Metal Packaging across EMEA. You will translate EU and regional regulations into practical guidance for Sales and Operations, and act as the technical authority in major customer discussions to ensure safety and business continuity.

Role includes overseeing material approvals, supporting supplier audits, and coordinating with industry associations to monitor developments such as PPWR and REACH.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience influencing industry bodies or trade associations (e.g., MPE, JIG).
• Experience supporting data-driven decision-making on material safety that impacts production, sales and brand reputation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the application of regulatory requirements for Metal Packaging across EMEA and translate legislative shifts into practical guidance.
• Author and validate Declarations of Compliance (DoC) and technical position papers for complex regulatory topics.
• Coordinate regulatory activities, ensure documentation accuracy and provide technical input to customer discussions as needed.
• Oversee final regulatory approval of materials (coatings, inks, compounds) and participate in Supplier Quality Audit (SQA) programs.
• Represent Sonoco in Trade Associations and monitor regulatory developments relevant to Metal Packaging.
