Job summary

Bagshot, Surrey-based retail business seeks an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead a seven-strong buying team, partnering with Directors to sharpen procurement strategy and drive commercial performance.

This newly created leadership role blends strategic oversight with hands-on supplier negotiations, cost control and process improvements, offering autonomy and a clear path to impact across the business.

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience in purchasing/procurement/buying.
• Experience leading or mentoring a purchasing team.
• Experience developing purchasing strategies and performance measures.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to analyse costs and margins.
• Experience managing full lifecycle: sourcing, negotiation, supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a seven-person buying team with day-to-day guidance.
• Introduce structures, KPIs and objectives to boost efficiency.
• Collaborate with Directors to shape purchasing strategy.
• Oversee end-to-end purchasing and supplier negotiations.
• Drive cost control, value optimization and process improvements.
• Monitor performance, conduct reviews and support development.
• Build strong supplier relationships and manage commercial terms.
