Job summary

Jackson Hogg Ltd is partnering with a well-established manufacturing organisation in Birtley to recruit a Purchasing Manager on a permanent basis. You will lead the UK purchasing team and shape strategic procurement.

The role covers supplier selection, negotiations, contract management and cost saving initiatives, plus management of rental agreements and supplier audits. Hybrid working 2–3 days from home is offered; salary £50–£55k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Five years’ procurement experience in manufacturing.
• Degree or diploma, or CIPS Level 4 advantageous.
• Strong negotiation and contract management capability.
• Experience in international matrix organisations.
• Analytical skills with ability to prioritise.
• Previous team leadership experience with people management.
• Clear, confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
• Proactive, flexible and solution‑oriented.
• Strategic thinker able to make effective decisions.
• Willingness to travel within UK and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Implement procurement strategy and policies.
• Lead supplier selection, sourcing, negotiations and contracts including QBRs.
• Manage rental agreements and service contracts for UK sites.
• Contribute to savings targets and working-capital optimization.
• Drive continuous improvement of procurement processes.
• Build and maintain supplier relationships and drive performance.
• Conduct supplier audits with Quality and Compliance teams.
• Monitor commodity prices and escalate trends to Head of Department.
• Ensure UK procurement compliance including waste, packaging and EPR with Legal.
• Provide line management for the UK Purchasing team and resource planning.
• Support procurement across UK functions and cross-functional projects.
• Maintain ERP master data and procurement documentation.
• Maintain stock levels to support production and manage supply risks.
