Job description

Are you ready to make an impact in a role that blends strategy, data, innovation, and collaboration? Thames Water is seeking a dynamic and driven Strategic Projects Coordinator to support high-impact, cross-functional projects that are vital to the success of Thames Water Retail and the broader Thames Water Group.

What you’ll be doing as the Strategic Projects Coordinator

You will ensure seamless coordination and alignment across a range of specialist delivery teams, all working towards shared customer strategy outcomes. These include enhancing customer engagement, reducing water consumption, and leveraging data and technology to improve service efficiency.

You’ll be instrumental in identifying and evaluating strategic and commercial opportunities, conducting insightful analysis and research, and helping shape key business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Support Activities

  1. Contribute to strategy development, roadmap creation, programme management, and documentation for customer engagement and water demand reduction initiatives.

Business Case Development
  1. Prepare and present detailed business cases to secure investment and resource allocation.
  2. Assess how delivery activities contribute to overall strategy, identifying gaps and opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  1. Translate high-level strategy into clear objectives and deliverables for operational teams.
  2. Collaborate with a wide range of internal teams (Digital, Strategy, Product, and Water Resources) to ensure aligned and effective delivery.
  3. Develop and maintain project plans and milestones, tracking delivery and identifying risks and dependencies.
  4. Build strong stakeholder relationships, promoting communication and shared understanding across the business.
  5. Promote a culture of continuous improvement, capturing lessons learned and identifying opportunities for innovation.

Data & Technology Analysis
  1. Conduct in-depth analysis using operational and customer data, including smart metering technologies.
  2. Monitor performance metrics and support data-driven decision-making to achieve strategic targets.
  3. Provide regular reporting and updates to senior leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation plans.

What you should bring to the role:
  1. A degree or equivalent qualification.
  2. Proven experience in managing or coordinating strategic, cross-functional initiatives.
  3. Strong analytical capability, with a keen eye for interpreting complex data to drive actionable insights.
  4. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  5. Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and workstreams.
  6. Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
  7. A strategic thinker who thrives on solving complex problems and shaping future direction.

Base Location: Hybrid - Clearwater Court - RG1 8DB.

Hours: 36 hours per week Monday to Friday.
