Job summary

Outsource UK is seeking a Procurement Lead for a Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria-based role on an initial 6-12 month contract. The position offers hybrid working (1-2 days onsite per week) and a rate of £40.00 per hour.

The role focuses on delivering procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships and supporting major programmes. The candidate will lead procurement activities, drive sourcing, negotiate contracts, and ensure governance compliance across projects in a regulated engineering

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Procurement Lead or similar senior procurement role.
• Strong sourcing, supplier management and commercial negotiation skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability.
• Experience in complex regulated engineering/defence environments is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activities across projects and categories.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with programme requirements.
• Manage end-to-end procurement from sourcing through to contract award and supplier management.
• Lead commercial negotiations to achieve best value.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance, costs, quality and delivery.
• Identify opportunities for cost reduction and improved commercial outcomes.
• Provide procurement expertise to project teams and ensure governance compliance.
• Support resolution of commercial and supplier-related issues.
