Job summary

Hackney Council is seeking an exceptional technology leader to shape and secure its platforms, infrastructure and cyber capabilities. As Head of Platform, Infrastructure and Cyber Security, you will guide strategy, drive modernisation and ensure resilient, secure services for residents and colleagues.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, advocate for cyber resilience and translate complex risks into clear decisions for senior leadership and elected Members.

Qualifications

• Significant senior leadership experience across platforms, infrastructure and cyber security.
• Proven track record in complex infrastructure modernisation and cloud migration.
• Experience with cyber incident preparedness, response and recovery.
• Experience developing cyber security strategies, zero-trust and IAM controls.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams through major technological change.
• Ability to communicate risk, cost and impact to senior leaders and elected Members.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Council’s platform, infrastructure and cyber security strategies and roadmaps.
• Oversee cloud platforms, networks, connectivity and security operations to ensure availability.
• Balance service continuity with modernisation using IaC, CI/CD and FinOps.
• Establish professional standards, governance and investment priorities.
• Engage regulators, auditors and partners to embed security and privacy controls.
• Advise senior leaders on complex technical, financial and security risks.
