Job description

The Strategic Planning Manager will report to the Head of Planning for SCS in the PMO. They will be responsible for managing the Contract Programme / Programme for Acceptance, monthly reporting, and associated narratives. The role acts as a coordinator between the core planning team and the wider project control management teams for schedule interfaces, progress measurement, earned value, quantitative schedule risk analysis, and baseline maintenance. The manager will support the planning team by ensuring that the Project Controls Execution Plan and Planning Procedures align with the works information and subsequent PMIs, and will assist the assurance function within the PMO to ensure compliance with processes.

Role Responsibilities
  • Assess schedule risks and develop mitigation measures.
  • Support Time Risk Allowance, Duration Uncertainty, and Discrete Risk assessments.
  • Serve as the focal point for quantitative schedule risk analysis.
  • Coordinate updates to the performance measurement baseline.
  • Ensure compliance with rules of credit.
  • Oversee cost and schedule alignment.
  • Manage project interfaces with Stations and Rail Systems, including maintenance of Milestone Definition Sheets.
  • Plan and monitor Handover and Assurance activities.
  • Work with senior management to ensure a consistent approach across the project.

Additional requirements include knowledge of asset structures, planning standards, WBS, and planning processes; proficiency in Primavera P6; a degree in engineering or similar; and strong communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to meet these criteria during the application and interview process.
