Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Principal Planning Officer to support delivery of major strategic development and regeneration projects in Kent. The role involves working with senior planning colleagues, consultants, and external stakeholders to shape masterplans, design codes, and infrastructure delivery.

Hybrid working is offered with occasional travel. The contract is initial 12 months at £50-£60 per hour umbrella.

Qualifications

Experience delivering major planning applications and complex development proposals.
Ability to manage consultants and external stakeholders.
Strong understanding of planning policy and legislation.
Willingness to hybrid work and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

Support delivery of strategic planning permissions and consents for major development schemes.
Contribute to area masterplans, design codes and proposals for future development phases.
Prepare and review planning submission documents.
Support reserved matters applications and the delivery of infrastructure works.
Develop planning strategies and contribute to business case development.
Coordinate external consultants and professional advisers.
Engage with local planning authorities, statutory consultees, developers and local communities.
Monitor emerging planning policy and legislation, providing strategic planning advice where required.
