Job description

Location: Oxford (Hybrid – 1 day/week in office)
Rate: £500 per day
Contract: 6–12 months
Working Hours: Full-time or Part-time (Flexible)
Office Attendance: Required once per week (Wednesday)

Overview:

We are currently recruiting for a Principal Strategic Planner to support a local authority in Oxfordshire on a long-term contract basis. This is a key role for an experienced planning professional with a background in policy and/or development management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead or support the preparation and implementation of local planning policy.

  • Provide strategic advice on major planning applications and infrastructure projects.

  • Liaise with internal teams, external partners, and the public on planning issues.

  • Contribute to high-level planning strategies that shape future growth and development.

Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in town and country planning, preferably within a local authority (county, district or unitary).

  • Proven track record in planning policy and/or development management.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a hybrid team.
