Job summary

A&O Shearman's Belfast office seeks a Management Accountant to join the Financial Control team. The role focuses on the UK offices, supporting monthly management accounting, P&L and balance sheet, and delivering timely, accurate reporting.

You will work with the Team Lead to prepare variances, budgeting, forecasting, and ensure strong financial control, while contributing to process improvements and audit readiness.

Qualifications

• Member of a recognised professional accounting body with up to 3 years post-qualification experience in a professional services environment.
• Experience delivering monthly management accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Ability to meet tight reporting deadlines with accuracy and professional scepticism.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly management accounting for UK offices, including P&L and balance sheet prep.
• Post journals, review costs, and ensure balances are supported and explained.
• Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate movements.
• Prepare monthly variance analysis and explain key drivers for signoff.
• Assist budgeting and forecasting cycles with solid data assumptions.
• Support audit processes and year-end close with audit-ready schedules.
