Job summary

Jane Street seeks a Linux Engineer Manager to lead a growing team maintaining the platform powering production trading systems. You will start as an individual contributor, learn the environment, and grow into management, guiding both engineers and projects with a focus on collaboration and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline.
• Strong communication and problem-decomposition skills.
• Proven ability to support and grow teams.
• Experience building firm-wide partnerships.
• Analytical and troubleshooting skills across technical, process and people.
• Deep knowledge of Linux and OS fundamentals.
• Proficiency with the Unix command line and shell scripting.
• Experience with modern Linux systems and systems programming concepts.
• Basic understanding of network protocols.
• Programming experience in any language.
• Fluency in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example as a Linux Engineer Manager while guiding the team.
• Balance individual technical work with leadership responsibilities.
• Learn OCaml and understand Jane Street's tech environment.
• Develop and maintain partnerships across teams and functions.
• Coordinate long-term planning and day-to-day service delivery.
