Job summary

J.P. Morgan in London is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to design, build, and tune high-performance Linux compute and infrastructure platforms powering its low-latency electronic trading businesses.

You will write production-grade tooling, architect immutable deployment models, and drive latency out of the stack across hardware, kernel, and network layers while mentoring partner teams and championing inclusion.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of applied, hands-on experience in software/systems engineering.
• Strong programming skills with production-grade tooling (Python, Go, Bash).
• Deep Linux engineering expertise – admin, internals, performance tuning, benchmarking (Red Hat preferred).
• Experience in low-latency, high-throughput environments (kernel tuning, CPU/NUMA).
• Hands-on kernel-bypass networking experience (Solarflare Onload).
• Experience applying Agentic AI tools to accelerate engineering tasks.
• Experience with Chef or Ansible for configuration management.
• Solid understanding of IPv4 networking, OSI model, routing and segmentation.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and IaC (Terraform).
• Cloud-native, container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Leadership of cross-functional technologists and talent development.
• Degrees in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate high-performance Linux platforms for low-latency trading.
• Architect new system designs and deployment models including immutable infrastructure and automation.
• Perform performance engineering and latency optimization across hardware, kernel, and networking.
• Write production-grade code and automation to improve platform reliability and speed.
• Leverage Agentic AI tools to accelerate engineering tasks and remediation.
• Interface with hardware and software vendors on platform roadmaps.
• Manage resources and budgets, governance and measures of success.
• Deliver reusable technical solutions across multiple businesses and domains.
• Mentor SREs and engineers and promote diversity and inclusion.
