Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Head of Instrumentation, Control & Automation Engineering to lead ICA across our assets. You will shape automation strategy, provide independent technical assurance, and act as the Technical and Design Authority for ICA.

You’ll drive the long-term vision for control systems, telemetry, OT and digital engineering while leading governance of Safety Instrumented Systems and cybersecurity across projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent.
• Significant experience leading ICA engineering teams.
• Experience as Technical Authority or Discipline Lead.
• Knowledge of instrumentation, automation, SCADA, PLCs and telemetry.

Responsibilities

• Establish ICA engineering strategy, standards and policies.
• Act as Technical and Design Authority for ICA.
• Define long-term vision for control systems and OT/digital engineering.
• Provide independent technical assurance across asset lifecycle.
• Review and approve complex ICA designs and solutions.
• Lead technical investigations and advise on risks and issues.
• Provide discipline leadership across investment programmes.
• Ensure ICA requirements are embedded in project briefs and studies.
• Promote standards and best practice with stakeholders.
• Lead governance of Functional Safety and Safety Instrumented Systems.
