Job summary

Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London is seeking a Head of Infection Prevention and Control to lead the IPC strategy across Cromwell Hospital and its Diagnostic and Outpatient Centres, in a hybrid pattern (4 days onsite, 1 day WFH).

The role reports to executive leadership, chairs the IPC Committee, and drives audit, surveillance and risk management, using data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, with a focus on regulatory readiness and patient safety.

Qualifications

• UK-registered healthcare professional with IPC focus.
• Postgraduate qualification in IPC or currently pursuing one.
• Significant post-registration experience in acute hospital or secondary care.

Responsibilities

• Lead the IPC strategy, annual programme and governance framework with alignment to priorities and risks.
• Chair the IPC Committee with oversight of performance, compliance, risk and improvement.
• Provide expert advice, independent assurance and constructive challenge to executives and leaders.
• Ensure organisation remains inspection-ready and compliant with regulatory standards.
• Lead IPC incident and outbreak oversight, with timely investigation and learning.
• Design and deliver IPC audit and surveillance programmes using data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Champion innovative, sustainable, technology-enabled solutions to reduce infection risk.
