JobPurpose:The Highland Council is seeking a dynamic and experiencedStrategic Lead for Financial Services (Corporate)to join our senior leadership team. This is a pivotal role, offering the opportunity to influence and drive the financial strategy of one of Scotland’s most unique and diverse local authorities.

As Strategic Lead, you will support the Chief Officer in overseeing the Council’s financial affairs, ensuring robust financial planning, governance, and performance. You will lead on corporate financial matters, including budget setting, financial reporting, and strategic financial advice, helping to deliver sustainable services that meet the needs of our communities.

Based in the Highlands, this permanent role offers a flexible hybrid working pattern and can be carried out from any of our offices across the Highland Council area. We're looking for a CCAB-qualified professional with strong leadership experience in local government finance.

Requirements

A relevant degree and/or CCAB professional accounting qualification and evidence of continuing professional development.

Significant experience of leadership and management responsibilities in financial services/accounting.

Significant experience within Local Government Finance.

Ability to ensure the effective management of financial services within the Council and to the allocated Cluster Services and to provide leadership across the team.
