Strategic Insights Analyst – Up-to £43,745 + Market Supplement of £3,500 – Hybrid working

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm, and keep people safe. The Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) Department is focused on providing better services to front-line officers, staff, and support functions to enable both forces to maintain their commitment to the public. Our department comprises approximately 250 people, and you would be joining a team dedicated to developing our digital capabilities to respond effectively to our communities and address the complexities of modern criminality through innovative technologies.

As the Strategic Insights Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

• Being the central point of contact for data, working proactively with stakeholders to deliver meaningful reporting and insights to inform service delivery.
• Collaborating with departmental representatives and stakeholders to develop a framework for mapping public needs and internal demands, enhancing understanding of how Surrey Police is serviced.
• Identifying relevant data sources, providing analytical products with commentary on trends, and proposing actionable recommendations within strict deadlines.
• Preparing and presenting independent analysis and advice, including exception reports to the Senior Management Team, focusing on demand and performance related to policing activities, supported by visualisations.
• Liaising with stakeholders to document strategic demands, using modelling techniques, and recommending areas for improvement.
• Supporting the preparation of management reports on current, future, and hidden demand, including statutory reports like the Force Management Statement and Annual Data Returns.
• Developing R or Python scripts to create predictive models for use in PowerBI or other analytical tools.
• Supporting organisational learning by capturing best practices and ensuring records are maintained in line with the force's knowledge exchange strategy.
• Building and enhancing business intelligence reports to enable self-service using Power BI and other tools, and identifying new requirements to improve operational efficiency.
• Producing insight reports for force boards and contributing to strategic documents like the Force Management Statement and business plans.
• Organising meetings and workshops to explore new data sources and interpret data to improve service delivery.
