Job summary

The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) is seeking a Finance Business Partner to join the Finance Team at Sheffield Head Office. You will provide proactive financial support to budget holders, improve governance, and drive performance and continuous improvement.

We look for CCAB or equivalent qualification, experience in a busy finance team, and strong communication and analytical skills. Hybrid working is available; interviews will be held in person in Sheffield.

Qualifications

• Recognised full CCAB or other relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience of working within a fast-paced Finance Team, preferably within a Local Government environment.
• Previous experience of working in a Business Partner model or similar role, including budgetary and business planning experience.
• Understanding of financial controls and associated risk.
• Current knowledge of reporting standards and financial controls.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and analytical skills.
• Able to prioritise own workload to achieve key milestones and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Build trust with key stakeholders and provide comprehensive financial support, shaping plans and challenging performance.
• Prepare accurate, timely and relevant management accounts and information.
• Support the annual budgeting, quarterly reforecasting and ongoing financial performance reporting.
• Monitor financial risks, opportunities and variances, reporting by exception.
