Job description

We are hiring for an exciting opportunity as a Strategic Field Technician to join us permanently.

This role will support the Strategic Network Upgrade program across the South London area. Although predominantly working across South London, you may be required to assist our larger team to achieve KPI targets in North London.

Base location: South East London - Deptford - SE13 7RE. You will cover the wider area and drive between several sites; therefore, a full clean UK driving licence is required.

Working pattern: 38 hours per week, 07:30 – 15:36, Monday-Friday.

What you’ll be doing as a Strategic Field Technician
  • Take ownership of Network Upgrade projects, supporting team members and providing cover during leave.
  • Support across the Thames Water operational strategic Asset area as needed.
  • Assist in network activities during asset failures, ensuring water quality compliance.
  • Minimise supply interruptions, liaising with customers and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Develop relationships with other teams across the business.
  • Support Network Asset Maintenance during Network Events and help meet business targets.
  • Act as a local network expert for isolation and rezoning, providing risk assessment information and sharing network risk and safety information.
  • Investigate the clean water network to resolve issues like high/low pressure, leakage, metering queries, and supply interruptions.
What should you bring to the role?
  • Knowledge of water network processes is desirable.
  • Understanding of Water Network Standards and best practices.
  • Relevant water network experience, especially in permits, mains isolation, and guided works.
  • Ability to work independently within SLAs.
  • Manage overtime fairly and responsibly.
  • Proficiency with company IT systems, especially GIS, Z-One, Sample Manager, and MS Teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail.
