Job summary

Moore SGD Law is seeking an exceptional Employment Law Partner to lead and develop our Employment Law offering. You will shape the strategy, grow the practice, manage key client relationships and oversee high‑level advisory and contentious work across the firm.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Moore Kingston Smith Group, drive cross‑referral opportunities, and lead the team with a view to enhancing client service, profitability and market profile in the London market.

Qualifications

  • Significant post‑qualification experience advising on employment law matters in England and Wales, ideally at a leading firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong technical capability across the full employment lifecycle, including recruitment, contracts and policies, employee relations and exits, with executive matters and restructurings.
  • Confidence advising employers, owner‑managed businesses, boards and senior executives on commercially sensitive employment issues.
  • Experience leading and managing Employment Tribunal litigation and complex disputes.
  • Ability to draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, service agreements, handbooks and settlement agreements.
  • Experience advising on TUPE and employment aspects of corporate transactions including due diligence and restructurings.
  • Ability to advise on executive appointments, boardroom disputes, restrictive covenants and confidential information protection.
  • Experience leading workplace investigations and without prejudice negotiations.
  • Commercially pragmatic judgement balancing legal risk with client needs and reputational considerations.
  • Strong relationship building to originate and win work through internal collaboration and client networks.
  • Proven ability to supervise and develop lawyers while maintaining high standards of client service.
  • Track record of business development and thought leadership in employment law.
  • Commercial awareness including profitability, billing and financial performance of matters.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for integrated legal and advisory services across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Interest in leveraging legal tech and AI to enhance client outcomes and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Employment Law practice, shaping service proposition, growth strategy, profitability and market positioning.
  • Advise employers, owner‑managed businesses, senior executives and boards on strategic and contentious employment matters.
  • Support employment aspects of corporate transactions, due diligence, restructurings and employee incentives.
  • Lead on sensitive workplace matters including investigations, disciplinaries, redundancies and Employment Tribunal litigation.
  • Develop internal relationships across HR consultancy, corporate, employment tax, outsourcing and advisory teams.
  • Mentor and develop junior lawyers through supervision, coaching and training.
  • Maintain high standards of risk management, quality assurance and compliance with firm procedures.
  • Own financial performance of matters and the practice, including budgeting, billing and WIP control.
  • Drive client relationship management, thought leadership and cross‑referral initiatives.
  • Pioneer innovation in employment practice, including the use of legal tech and AI to improve delivery and client service.
