Job summary

EMEC, part of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, seeks an experienced ecologist to lead strategic ecological work on major projects and client accounts. You will translate biodiversity goals into practical delivery, working with project teams to shape habitat management, monitoring and long-term plans.

You will interpret complex ecological data, develop action plans and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver nature-based outcomes on time. Regular fieldwork and travel are involved.

Qualifications

  • Experience in habitat assessment, ecological survey and mitigation.
  • Knowledge of biodiversity, habitat management and nature recovery.
  • Experience developing ecological strategies and long-term outputs.
  • Client-facing experience with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic ecological expertise across major, long-term client projects.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to understand client objectives and priorities.
  • Translate biodiversity and land management goals into practical plans.
  • Establish ecological baselines, constraints and opportunities across sites.
  • Develop biodiversity strategies, habitat management and monitoring frameworks.
  • Identify opportunities delivering ecological benefits while respecting constraints.
  • Define scopes and plan programmes, resources and specialist input.
  • Ensure ecological objectives translate into on-ground actions.
  • Coordinate ecologists, specialists, subcontractors and partners.
  • Support tenders, proposals and future work with major clients.
  • Conduct site surveys, assessments, reporting and QA; occasional fieldwork.
