Job summary

The Scottish Government is seeking a Strategic Director (Inspection) to provide strategic leadership for the organisation's inspection function across Scotland. You will design, deliver and oversee inspection programmes to assure the quality of learning and teaching and drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of an increasingly diverse portfolio of inspection activity.
• Use evidence, research and sector insight to support learning and improvement across education.
• Ensure inspection findings inform policy, practice and continuous improvement at local and national levels.
• Lead a team of Assistant Directors and HM Inspectors and provide visible leadership across the organisation.
• Contribute to governance, organisational performance and resource management as part of the senior leadership team.
• Be capable to operate at the highest levels and deputise for the Chief Inspector when required.
