Job summary

Thames Water is seeking a Strategic Contracts Manager to drive category strategies, supplier development, and value delivery while ensuring compliance with Procurement Act 2023 (Utilities) and internal policies.

The role sits in a hybrid arrangement at Reading with a full UK driving licence, and involves collaborating with Commercial and Procurement teams to deliver the capital programme on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Experience in supplier relationship management and building long-term partnerships.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary project teams.
• Proven ability to manage internal/external stakeholders and negotiate with suppliers.
• Track record delivering procurement value, cost efficiency and innovation.
• Familiarity with Procurement Act 2023 (Utilities).
• MCIPS certification or equivalent qualification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Category Plans for allocated spend areas.
• Build collaborative relationships within the Commercial Team.
• Develop engagement plans for current and potential suppliers.
• Identify and prioritise activity pipelines for strategic and tactical opportunities.
• Lead category projects and support Strategic Sourcing Managers as required.
• Negotiate with suppliers on commercial and contractual matters and assess risk.
• Lead review of supplier opportunities, innovations and improvements.
• Ensure contracts and agreements deliver outputs per terms.
• Maintain accurate records and timely reporting using available tools.
