Job summary

Sword Group is seeking a Contracts Engineer to shape how we manage customer and supplier contracts. You will review, draft and negotiate agreements, guiding governance and risk management across Sales, Operations, Procurement, Finance and Legal.

In this newly created role, you will help establish best practice, maintain contract templates, and support on complex commercial arrangements that underpin Sword's service delivery and growth.

Qualifications

• Proven experience reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, terms and conditions and contractual documentation.
• Strong understanding of commercial contract principles, contractual risk and liability management.
• Experience with MSAs, SOWs and NDAs for customer/supplier contracts.
• Ability to identify, assess and mitigate contractual and commercial risks.
• Experience managing contracts through full lifecycle from negotiation to renewal/termination.
• Knowledge of governance, approval processes and contractual compliance requirements.
• Ability to interpret contractual language for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong negotiation skills balancing objectives and risk.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft and negotiate customer and supplier contracts, terms & conditions, framework agreements and commercial documentation.
• Ensure customer and supplier contractual obligations are aligned, managing commercial risk where Sword acts as the prime contractor or managing agent.
• Identify contractual, commercial and operational risks and work with stakeholders to develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Provide contractual guidance and support to Sales, Operations, Procurement and Project teams throughout the contract lifecycle.
• Coordinate contract reviews with internal stakeholders including Legal, Compliance, Finance, Procurement and Information Security.
• Manage contract approvals in line with company governance and delegated authority.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates, commercial clauses and contract documentation.
• Maintain an accurate contract repository, monitoring renewals, notice periods and key contractual obligations.
• Support supplier onboarding by reviewing contractual requirements, liabilities and service commitments.
• Assist in the resolution of contractual queries, variations and disputes.
• Promote best practice in commercial contract management and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Build strong working relationships with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to support successful contract delivery and business growth.
