Job summary

South Eastern Railway is seeking a Communications Manager in London to shape external communications across stakeholder relations, media, and public affairs. You will manage key external relationships, craft campaigns, and deliver clear communications for major rail projects with a focus on protecting and enhancing reputation.

Based in the Stakeholder Relations team, you will coordinate with operations, commercial and infrastructure teams to integrate stakeholder insights into business decisions

Qualifications

• Significant experience within corporate communications.
• Proven track record in public relations activity in a high-profile organisation.
• Excellent writing skills and ability to think strategically.
• Excellent influencing skills and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Thorough knowledge of the media and how it operates.
• Educated to degree level.
• Experience of working within an agency environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage relationships with external stakeholders across multiple routes.
• Develop and deliver effective communications strategies and external campaigns.
• Provide updates on operational developments and feed stakeholder insight back to the business.
• Manage communications across media, public affairs and social media.
• Create engaging content for external channels, including social media or video.
• Draft timely responses to media enquiries and tailor messaging for audiences.
• Collaborate with teams to develop external narratives and messaging.
• Represent the organisation at meetings and build trusted stakeholder relationships.
