Job summary

The Church of England Birmingham is seeking a Communications Officer to lead communications around its strategy to grow churches at the heart of communities in Birmingham and the wider region. You will develop strategy, engage diverse audiences including church leaders, congregations, and the public, and work under the Director of Communications.

Qualifications

• Professional experience across one or more communications disciplines.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience creating creative, compelling stories and features.
• Ability to translate complex, faith-based information for broad audiences.
• Experience managing multiple projects to deadlines in a busy environment.
• Willingness to travel across the diocese.
• Personal Christian faith with ability to communicate the vision authentically.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement communications strategy aligned with four themes.
• Write and edit materials for website, social content, PR and newsletters.
• Oversee story development across formats (written, video, photo).
• Build relationships with churches, clergy, boards, partners and media.
• Support projects such as website redesign and brand refresh.
• Provide resources and training for church leaders and volunteers."
• Monitor and evaluate cross-channel communications against objectives.
