BSW Hospitals Group is seeking to appoint an experienced and forward-thinking senior clinical leader to the role of Strategic Clinical Transformation Director, supporting the successful transition of the BSW Hospitals Group into a unified clinical model.
The role will lead on the development of a unified clinical strategy for the Group and will lead the development and delivery of service reconfiguration as well as to address fragile clinical services across the Group. The role will play a critical role in convening clinical leaders across the Group to drive consensus and alignment. Acting as the senior-most clinical strategist, the postholder will drive consistency, alignment, and innovation across sites, fostering a joined-up approach to clinical excellence while strengthening system-wide collaboration.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of the BSW Hospitals Group, and working in close collaboration with executive and clinical colleagues, the Strategic Clinical Transformation Director will play an instrumental role in enabling clinical transformation and fostering cross-organisational learning across:
- Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
- Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust
- Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a cohesive Group-wide clinical strategy that promotes consistency, innovation, and excellence in care delivery.
- Service Stabilisation: Lead efforts to address and support fragile clinical services, ensuring sustainability and resilience across the Group.
- Clinical Engagement and Alignment: Convene clinical leaders across all sites to build consensus, foster collaboration, and establish shared priorities.
- Transformation and Learning: Champion system-wide transformation by enabling cross-organisational learning and best-practice sharing.
- Service Redesign – Lead the development of clinical service redesign and service reconfiguration
Working for our organisation
Applicants should bring:
- Extensive senior clinical leadership experience within complex NHS environments such as previous experience operating at Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) or equivalent roles.
- A demonstrable track record of leading strategic clinical transformation at scale across multidisciplinary teams.
- Expertise in clinical governance, service design, and change management.
- Outstanding interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to unify diverse teams and stakeholders behind a shared vision

Qualifications
- Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area
- Clinical registration and experience across a wide range of services
- Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
- Member of relevant professional body
Knowledge and Experience
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master’s level equivalent
- Must understand the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
- Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health and Social Care, Regional and National teams and individual provider and commissioning organisations
