Location: This post will be based across Scotland.
NHS Education for Scotland (NES) is the national health board with statutory responsibilities to effect sustainable change through workforce development, education and training across the health and social care system in Scotland, while working at UK level with partner organisations.
Working as the Strategic Clinical Lead: Simulation and Enhanced Technologies in Medical Education, the post holder will be accountable for the strategic and operational development and delivery of simulation and advanced technologies across resident doctor training programs in Scotland. Ensuring curriculum coverage, maintaining best practice, contributing to quality management, improvement and innovation of training within the Scotland Deanery.
The Strategic Clinical Lead Simulation and enhanced technologies in medical education will:
- Be responsible for the leadership, oversight, innovation and implementation of simulation and
enhanced technologies across post graduate curricula for resident doctors in training.
- With stakeholders, develop a programme of skills and simulation training and enhanced
technologies, mapped to curricular requirements.
- Establish and lead an operational group involving delivery leads for enhanced tech incl. sim within NES, this group may wish to co-opt health board simulation leads, local training leads and trainee /lay reps as appropriate to develop the strategic programme of work.
- Work with other professions in developing specialty simulation as appropriate
- Work to ensure equity of training for all trainees in the programme
- Consult/ Advise on appropriate courses to be commissioned for simulation if not provided through local networks
- Ensure a quality assurance process of the delivered training including evaluation and analysis of benefit to inform future developments.
- Be a member of and contribute to the NES study leave governance group and provide a Quarterly report progress to the appropriate NES Specialty Training Boards and the Study Leave Governance Group
- Work collaboratively with Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network (CSMEN)
