Government Recruitment Service is seeking a Deputy Director - Strategic Change for Defra, based in Bristol. The role leads a strategic change portfolio, with a focus on delivering efficiencies, modernising governance, and guiding cross-Defra delivery teams to achieve outcomes.

It is a permanent, full-time position with a substantial remit and senior stakeholder exposure. Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape design, oversee the change portfolio, and ensure alignment with the Future

Qualifications

Translate policy intent into strategic design to deliver change.
Lead delivery of organisational change initiatives across Defra.
Oversee the efficiencies portfolio to deliver outcomes and savings.
Establish and manage relationships with ALBs, Change and Transformation Directors, and delivery partners to ensure coherent delivery.

Responsibilities

Translate policy intent into strategic design to deliver change that is meaningful and impactful.
Lead the delivery of a series of organisational change initiatives to modernise, make agile, and improve Defra.
Oversee the efficiencies portfolio to ensure projects deliver required outcomes and stay within spending envelope.
Establish and manage relationships with stakeholders to ensure change is cohered and delivered.
Develop and deliver governance and reporting to inform effective decision making.
Lead work on business design standards and guardrails to inform policy and service development.
Communicate with Executive Committee using clear language to cut through complexity.
