Job summary

LGC is seeking a proactive Category Manager for a 14-month fixed-term contract based in London with hybrid working and 1-2 days per week in the Victoria Street office. You will shape category strategies, optimise spend, and lead supplier negotiations to deliver measurable commercial outcomes.

You’ll combine analytical and commercial skills to challenge the status quo, build trusted relationships, and drive value across a varied corporate spend portfolio.

Qualifications

• Experience in category management, strategic sourcing or procurement.
• Experience contributing to category strategies, sourcing projects and spend optimisation initiatives.
• Strong commercial negotiation skills with suppliers on tenders, contracts and terms.
• Ability to analyse spend and market information to find opportunities and deliver results.
• Confidence influencing decisions across functions and seniority levels.
• Excellent organisational and project management skills with deadline focus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and complete comprehensive category strategies aligned with organisational objectives and goals.
• Manage and nurture strategic supplier relationships to ensure value delivery.
• Analyse market trends and category data to identify cost savings opportunities and optimisations.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve procurement processes and drive organisational change.
• Conduct detailed spend analysis and category modelling to support strategic decisions and budgeting.
• Negotiate contracts and commercial terms balancing cost, quality and service requirements.
• Monitor performance against benchmarks and provide transparent reporting and insights.
• Collaborate with internal teams to align category requirements with business needs.
• Identify and implement innovative solutions to improve category performance and growth.
• Champion a customer-focused approach ensuring end-user happiness and experience.
