Job summary

EDF Trading Ltd is seeking a Category Manager to design and implement a centralised procurement function. The role focuses on developing category strategies, driving end-to-end sourcing, and building robust supplier management and governance frameworks.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in procurement, preferably in a fast-paced commercial setting.
• Experience designing and implementing category strategies across indirect spend.
• Experience establishing procurement processes, policies and governance frameworks.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive compliance in procurement.
• Strong commercial acumen with tendering, negotiation and supplier management experience.
• Experience assessing and negotiating supplier terms and conditions.
• Experience drafting sourcing strategies, tender docs and procurement recommendations.
• Experience in energy, commodities trading or regulated sectors is desirable.
• CIPS qualification or actively working towards it.

Responsibilities

• Support the establishment and adoption of a centralised procurement function across EDFT.
• Develop and implement category strategies aligned with objectives and requirements.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing, including market analysis, supplier engagement, tendering, evaluation and selection.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing structures and terms to maximise value and minimise risk.
• Build relationships with stakeholders to understand needs and deliver procurement solutions.
• Promote compliance with policies, processes and governance frameworks.
• Provide guidance and training on procurement best practice and policy requirements.
• Challenge non-compliant purchasing and ensure adherence to approved processes.
• Manage supplier relationships and performance, identify continuous improvement opportunities.
• Support full contract lifecycle including implementation, performance management, renewal and exit planning.
• Identify cost optimisation, efficiency, risk mitigation and value improvement opportunities.
• Maintain awareness of market trends and commercial risks to inform sourcing.
