Purpose of Role

As a Strategic Buyer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the relationships of key suppliers are managed to an acceptable level and component costs are continually reviewed and reduced. You’ll collaborate with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and report internally on supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and Sourcing: Source and purchase raw materials, components, and finished products required for manufacturing.
• Evaluate supplier performance, negotiate pricing, and secure favourable terms.
• Maintain relationships with existing critical suppliers and identify new potential vendors.
• Present cost benefit analysis on resourcing projects and lead projects to conclusion.

• Market Analysis And Cost Optimization: Analyse market trends to determine competitive pricing.
• Implement cost-saving strategies while maintaining quality standards.
• Work closely with existing critical supplier base to reduce cost through supplier workshops and visits.
• Analyse product value add and manufacturing process to find areas for cost reduction.
• Strategic outlook of the supplier base, proactively planning the future structure of the supply base.

• Collaboration: Work closely with Supplier quality team to support in quality performance of critical suppliers.
• Coordinate with cross-functional departments on cost reduction projects and NPI.
• Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Supplier KPI management and reporting to internal stakeholders and management.

• Record Keeping And Compliance: Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.

Skills And Qualifications

• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, and negotiation skills are vital for success in this role.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Good understanding and experience of using ERP systems.
• CIPS or equivalent certificate required.
• Proactive, collaborative and strategic mindset with ability to show initiative to overcome challenges.
