Job summary

Belmont Recruitment are seeking an experienced Business Manager for Sheffield City Council on a temporary 6-month contract. The role focuses on business planning, financial management and continuous improvement, with duties including financial forecasting, budget changes and leading improvement projects.

The post requires strong financial skills, stakeholder management and the ability to supervise business support staff, while deputising for the Head of Service as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in a relevant business support or management role.
• Experience across finance, HR, business continuity, change management and business support processes.
• Strong financial and numerical skills, including ability to produce and interpret financial reports.
• Confident using IT packages, including Microsoft Excel and other information systems.

Responsibilities

• Produce budget reports and financial forecasts to support effective financial management.
• Support budget changes and contribute to service business planning.
• Lead business improvement projects and implement changes to improve service delivery.
• Develop and maintain performance management information, monitoring targets and identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Manage business support processes and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Ensure effective business continuity arrangements and support the Council's emergency planning.
• Lead on FOI SARs compliance and attend meetings on behalf of the Head of Service.
• Lead and coordinate business support staff, monitoring performance and staff development.
• Manage team and service meeting schedules, forward plans and agendas.
