Job summary

JPMorganChase in London is seeking a Senior Principal Architect to lead design and adoption of cloud-based IaaS and compute platforms. You will own the technical vision from bare metal to VMs, ensuring scalable, secure infrastructure for critical workloads.

Collaborate with platform engineering, cloud, and application teams to drive automation, IaC, and compliance in a large, regulated financial environment, while mentoring engineers and architects.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software infrastructure architecture concepts and expert applied experience.
• Extensive experience architecting and delivering IaaS and compute platforms in large, complex, regulated financial services or enterprise environments.
• Deep expertise in hypervisor technologies and virtualization platforms, including architecture, design, deployment, and operational management of production environments.
• Strong understanding of the full datacenter compute stack from bare metal provisioning through hypervisor layers to virtual machine lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with compute platform integration: storage architectures, network virtualization, and infrastructure management tooling.
• Professional experience with infrastructure-as-code frameworks, configuration management tools, CI/CD pipelines, and declarative platform models.
• Demonstrated ability to embed regulatory, risk, and control requirements into infrastructure architecture and provide audit-ready evidence, change traceability, and compliance reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management; able to collaborate deeply with engineering teams, vendors, and business partners to deliver pragmatic, scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Defines and owns architecture for IaaS and compute platforms from bare metal provisioning to VM lifecycle management.
• Architects datacenter compute provisioning flows including resource management, orchestration, and platform operations.
• Designs and evolves hypervisor platform architectures across technologies with standards for cluster design and HA.
• Architects platform integration with storage, networking, identity services, and monitoring systems.
• Embeds regulatory and control requirements into platform designs with audit-ready evidence and change traceability.
• Leads automation and IaC initiatives; defines configuration models, policy enforcement, and deployment workflows.
• Develops reference architectures and blueprints for secure, scalable compute infrastructure.
• Conducts architecture reviews and communicates decisions in governance forums; documents risks and exceptions.
